Bob
Thomas is a 1980 magna cum laude graduate of Princeton University
and a 1985 cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School. He is a member
of the bar of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the State of Maryland,
and the District of Columbia. After a judicial clerkship for U.S. District
Judge Walter E. Black, Jr. in the District of Maryland in 1985-86, Mr.
Thomas began his career at Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C.
From 1989 to 1997, he served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District
of Maryland, where he concentrated on the criminal prosecution of white-collar
fraud matters. He was awarded the E.P.A. Bronze Award for outstanding
contribution to the government's efforts in United States v. Wilson
& Interstate General Company, a federal Clean Water Act prosecution.
In 1997, Mr. Thomas returned to private practice.
Since
establishing Thomas & Associates in Boston in 2000, Mr. Thomas
has continued to concentrate in areas of law involving fraud-related issues.
The practice is comprised of whistleblower (qui tam) litigation,
white-collar defense, and special prosecution of labor racketeering cases
as part of a government-mandated clean-up effort. Mr. Thomas was recently
appointed to the Criminal Justice Act panels for both the federal District
of Massachusetts as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
